Freedom to Live: The Robert Hartman Story:  Robert S Hartman (1910 – 1973) was a philosopher, professor and business person who pioneered the science of values (”axiology”) as a field of study. In 1932 he fled Germany, for his life, as Robert Schirokauer on a fake passport. He rejected and spoke out against communism and believed that ‘every life is sacred and that you can’t kill people for an idea'. He changed his name to Robert S. Hartman. With PhD’s in math, law and philosophy and wrote 12 books and thousands of articles.

His vision was to give us the means to recognize and fulfill "the good" within each of us, thereby enriching our lives. By applying these principles on a broader scale, we may also enrich our world and make it a place of more "goodness" and peace. He was nominated in 1973 for the Nobel Peace and he worked with companies like Seimens, Volkswagon, Alcoa Aluminum and more. Learn more about his background and thinking.

His work, and the science of axiology, helps us all answer these questions, "What am I here for in the world? Why do I work for this organization? What can this organization do to help me fulfill my meaning in the world? How can I help this organization help me fulfill my meaning in the world."  Read about Hartman's incredible story.
